Solve the 3×3 cube, even if you've never touched one

Thai & English • standard notation • animated 3D

Learn the reasoning, not just the algorithms

This guide teaches the layer-by-layer method, the standard beginner method used around the world, in 8 steps. Every step has animated examples you can play one move at a time, and explains why each move works.

🗺️ The 8 steps

We solve one layer at a time, bottom → middle → top. The “standard name” column gives the terms you’ll meet again in the speed method (CFOP).

StepWhat you doStandard nameMain algorithm
1White edges around yellowDaisyNo algorithm
2White crossCrossNo algorithm
3First-layer cornersFirst layer cornersRUR'U'
4Middle layerSecond layer → F2LURU'R'U'F'UF
5Yellow crossEdge OLLFRUR'U'F'
6Yellow faceCorner OLL (Sune)RUR'URU2R'
7Place top cornersCorner PLLL'URU'LUR'
8Place top edgesEdge PLLL'U'LU'L'U2L

The steps and algorithms match the popular Thai “How to solve the 3x3x3” poster, so you can use both together.

📱 How to use this guide

  • Drag left and right on any cube to look around it; the Top/Btm buttons switch the viewing angle
  • Press ▶ Play to watch a whole example, or ⏭ for one move at a time. Tap a move to jump to that point
  • Grey pieces don’t matter yet in this step; blinking pieces are the ones being discussed
  • Your progress, times and practice cube are saved on this device automatically
  • Switch language with TH / EN at the top right, and install the site as an app on your phone to use it offline
💡 Before you start
  • Always hold the cube the same way: in this guide, yellow on top, white on the bottom, green in front (so orange is right, red is left and blue is at the back)
  • Get comfortable with one step before moving on. There’s no need to learn everything in one day
  • Messing it up is fine! You can always restart a step, and mistakes are how you learn
  • Keep a real cube in your hands and follow along move by move
