🏁 Step 8

Place the top edges — solved!

🎯 Goal of this step

Swap the top edges into place, then turn the top to match the centres = cube solved! 🎉

💡 The idea — why it works

After step 7 some side may have a top row that is all one colour (a “bar”). That side is finished: turn it to the back and cycle the other three edges.

The left-hand algorithm L'U'LU'L'U2L (a mirrored Sune) followed by the right-hand Sune twist the corners one way and back again, so the twists cancel and only three edges cycle. That’s a key idea: build new algorithms out of ones you already know.

If they cycle the wrong way, one more round fixes it (cycling twice = cycling backwards).

Left-hand algorithm (bar at the back)
L'U'LU'L'U2L
Then turn U so the yellow-up corner is at front-left and do Sune

How to do it

  1. Find a side whose top row is all one colour and turn U to put it at the back
  2. Do L'U'LU'L'U2L
  3. The yellow becomes a fish → turn U so the yellow-up corner is at front-left → Sune RUR'URU2R'
  4. Turn U to line the top up with the centres. If it isn’t finished, find the bar and do another round
  5. No bar at all? Do steps 2–3 once from any side first
