🧭 Going further
Next steps towards speedcubing (CFOP)
Your path
- Solve fluently with this method without looking at the guide (about 1–2 minutes)
- Build the white cross directly on the bottom, skipping the daisy (Cross)
- 4LLL (4-Look Last Layer): about 16 more algorithms replace steps 5–8 with four looks: 2-look OLL + 2-look PLL
- Intuitive F2L: pair a corner with its edge and insert them together, replacing steps 3–4 (it builds on the idea from step 4)
- Full CFOP: Cross → F2L → OLL (57 algorithms) → PLL (21 algorithms), under 20 seconds

Standard algorithms used by speedcubers, in the notation you’ve already learned.
📖 Glossary
- Algorithm
- A fixed sequence of moves with a known effect
- Notation
- Letters that describe moves, e.g. R U F
- Centre / Edge / Corner
- The three kinds of piece
- Layer
- Top, middle or bottom slice of the cube
- Daisy
- White edges around the yellow centre
- Cross
- Four edges solved around a centre
- F2L
- First Two Layers
- OLL
- Orient Last Layer – make the top one colour

- Permute Last Layer – move the top pieces into place
- AUF
- Adjust U Face – the final turn of the top
- Trigger
- A short, common move group such as R U R’ U’
- Sexy move
- R U R’ U’

- Algorithms that twist the yellow corners
- Headlights
- Two matching corners on one side
- Bar
- A side whose whole top row matches
- Commutator
- The A B A’ B’ pattern that touches few pieces
