The white cross
Send the four white edges from the daisy down to the bottom to form a white cross, with each edge’s side colour matching the centre of that side (from the side you see an upside-down T).
The white-green edge belongs between the white centre and the green centre. So turn U until the edge sits above the green centre (the two greens form a stripe), then turn the green face 180° (F2).
Why 180°? A half turn carries the piece from the very top to the very bottom, and the white sticker that faced up now faces down, exactly where it belongs. U never touches the bottom layer, so edges you’ve already sent down stay safe.
How to do it
- Look at the white edge at the front (top-front slot) and read its side colour (not the white)
- Turn U or U' until that colour matches the front centre
- Turn F2: the edge drops to the bottom
- Rotate the whole cube with y to bring the next face to the front, and repeat for all four
- Check underneath: a white cross, and every side’s bottom row has a matching centre and edge
- White cross, but the sides don’t match → you sent an edge down before matching its colour; always turn U to match first
- Turning the side only 90° → the white sticker lands in the middle layer; turn twice (180°)
Once steps 1–2 are easy, try building the white cross on the bottom directly, without the daisy — that’s what speedcubers do in CFOP, and it is much faster.
